Product info

Ambi is both a basket and a tray, depending on which way you turn it. Used one way, it takes the form of a podium that lifts the contents up. If you turn it the other way, it becomes a basket that holds more. Vegetables and fruit that should not be close together can easily be distributed on each side of the basket – or fill it to the brim with freshly baked rolls for weekend breakfast. Ambi is plaited by hand from straw and palm leaves and is a nice decoration detail even when it is not in use. Designed by Kristine Bjaadal.

Kristine Bjaadal has a master’s degree in design, and runs her own design studio in Oslo. Her approach to design has a poetic touch, and she often combines the functional with the sculptural. Bjaadal’s work has received a lot of attention in the national and international design press. For Bokhari, she has designed the products Ambi and Esra.

At Bokhari, Norwegian design and Pakistani craftsmanship are combined in beautiful interior and textile products. Through collaboration with selected Norwegian designers, a responsible and sustainable production and by using only natural, recycled or reused materials in all its handmade products, Bokhari contributes to creating safe and decent workplaces for hundreds of artisans in Pakistan, and ensures schooling for the children theirs at the LAMS school, wall-to-wall with the weaving mill.
